Don't Make Those Social Media Marketing Mistakes | MAD Gorilla Media

Are you wondering why your social media marketing isn’t as effective as you’d want it to be?

You could be doing something wrong.

Don’t get me wrong – we ALL make mistakes. They key is to know what practices to avoid on your social media to make the most out of it:

Not having a SMM strategy.

No doubt, you’ve created a business plan when you first started your company and hopefully, you review it on regular basis as your brand grows.

So why not create a social media marketing strategy?

You should have specific goals, budgets and a concrete plan of action that outlines what you are trying to accomplish, how you will achieve your goal, how you will measure results, and what resources you will need to allocate.

Not knowing your target audience.

Your business will never take off if you don’t have any customers – it’s as simple as that.

So find out exactly WHO you’re selling your product or service to!

Treating all platforms the same.

Every social network has its unique type of content, audience and best techniques to use.

Take Instagram – it allows up to 30 hashtags per each post.

While it’s OK to use them all on Insta, you’d make your Facebook Page looking spammy.

Promoting your brand too much.

No one likes seeing too many adverts, so don’t overload your audience with promotional content – be sociable instead!

Following the 80/20 rule is the best tips I can give you.

It simply comes down to this: use just 20% of your content to promote your bran, and dedicate 80% to content that really interests your audience and engages them in conversations.

Not engaging enough.

Your social media updates are useless if no one cares shares or responds to them.

Show your followers some love – engagement works both ways.

Buying followers.

Now, this is just a waste of your time and money.

What’s the point of a big following if it doesn’t convert into sales?
